Ken--

Fear is a powerful tool of persuasion. You are right to point out that
the Democrats use this tool to garner the support of some elements of
society, often stretching the truth. However to claim that the Dems are
alone in this would be impossible. I note for example that CNN last night
used the Republican N.C. ad attacking Clinton for tax increases to
ilustrate that both sides were guilty of misleading ads.

CNN's objected to the RNC ad that claimed that under Clinton taxes for
the average family had risen about $1500. (They used an exact figure but
I cannot recall beyond 2 significan digits). In particular taxes for a
two income HH had increased by $1500, not for the average HH, but more
importantly, taxes had increased mostly because the income of a two income
HH had increased by $6000. Thus the taxes paid on the extra income were
paid at a marginal rate of about 25%. Gosh Ken, if thats the best
Republicans can do this fall, "you are paying more tax because you are so
much better off" y'all better prepare for 4 more years.
