                      Snow in August

If there was ever a pure example of a “snow job”
it was that White House love feast between Bill and Newt
as they proclaimed each other’s “great” achievement in
creating the so called balanced budget.

The only “non-snow” part was Newt’s gushing over
his friend and “hero” Bill Clinton. This “lap dog”
performance must cause the GOP voters to wonder
what happened to its “loyal opposition” status.

What has happened is very obvious. Bill has co-opted
the programs of the GOP thru its leaders’ abject surrender
to his 1996 campaign fear tactics. As George Wallace’s
“not a dimes worth of difference” evaluation of our two
party system gains prophetic ascendancy, the GOP now
stands in danger of being dismissed. as a party of
non-viable differences. The remaining question may soon
become “will the 2nd party become a 3rd party and
a 3rd party become the 2nd party?” 1968 may give us
the answer as indifferent GOP voters look elsewhere
to re-gain their political voice.
