Burning a flag, or anything else, in and of itself is a violation of
several laws not including a host of environmental wacko laws. You
can't go on public property or someone else's private property and
just start fires without express permission (local burning ordinances
may even prohibit it then). I would expect you to be charged with
endangerment, perhaps even reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct,
littering, possibly violating local burning ordinances and if someone
gets burned by flying ash or soot in their eyes you would be civily
liable from negligence. I just don't see the need for an amendment. On
the other hand so many veteran organizations are in favor of it I feel
compelled to defer to their judgment. They deserve whatever they want
in that regard.
