Goodell went to Washington & Jefferson College here in town and I have friends who went there with him, adding that "he wasn't too smart back then." He apparently still isn't. Football cannot do without customers. However, customers can do without football. I'd have let the players walk. Where else are they gonna make the obscene amounts of money they make on the gridiron? Any player walkout would be short-lived, I guarantee you that much!

Rush made a good point about this yesterday. Goodell is between a rock and a hard place. He has to choose between the players and the customers. If the players walk out he is screwed. If the fans go away he thinks it will likely be a blip and they will eventually come back. Its a gamble but he is taking what he believes the lesser of two evils and choosing the player's side.

It wasn’t politics until Barrack Obama got on national news and chastised police officers all over the country. In effect, he sided with the shooters, and that made it political.

What he does off the field is fine no matter how stupid. I don't condemn anyone for that. It is publicly disrespecting the flag, country and especially those that gave their lives so they can play that game and make their millions that I condemn. Like all liberals Goodell and the NFL by extension is a bunch of hypocrites. The Dallas Cowboys were prohibited from adding a decal to their helmets to honor the officers killed in the mass shooting there under the guise of keeping politics out of the game. I didn't know honoring LEOs killed on duty was considered politics.

Agreed, Tom! Tomlin said that he didn't want the team mixed up in "politics", but in November, he's hosting a Hillary Clinton fundraiser at his home!

Tomlin and Goodell can"t be gone quick enough to satisfy me. Both should be given cardboard boxes and 5 minutes to clean their desks out. Tom

With the exception of Alejandro Villanueva (thank you for serving), I am

ashamed of being a Steelers fan. Maybe I will give up on the NFL altogether.
